PREAMBLE TO THE SAL CONSTITUTION
Proud possessors
of a priceless heritage, we male descendants of veterans of the Great Wars,
associate ourselves together as "Sons of The American Legion" for the
following purposes:
To uphold and defend the
Constitution of the United States of America; to maintain law and order; to
foster and perpetuate a true spirit of Americanism; to preserve the memories
of our former members and the associations of our members and our
forefathers in the Great Wars; to inculcate a sense of individual obligation
to the community, state and nation; to combat the autocracy of both the
classes and masses; to make right the master of might; to promote peace and
good will on earth; to safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of
justice, freedom and democracy; to consecrate and sanctify our friendship by
our devotion to mutual helpfulness; to adopt in letter and spirit all of the
great principles for which The American Legion stands; and to assist in
carrying on for God and Country.

All male descendants, adopted sons and
stepsons of members of The American Legion, and such male descendants of
veterans who died in service during World I, World War II, and Korean War,
the Vietnam War, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, and the Persian Gulf War, during
the delimiting periods set forth in Article IV, Section I, of the National
Constitution of The American Legion, or who died subsequent to their
honorable discharge from such service, shall be eligible for membership in
the Sons of The American Legion.
There shall be no forms or class of membership except an active membership.
Proof of eligibility verification may be required upon request. For more

Genoa Eagle Scout Named
"Nebraska Eagle Scout of the Year" |
| Our own Squadron 84,
Brandon C. Drozd, 17, Genoa has been selected as the 2009 Eagle Scout of the
Year and has received a $500 cash award. As the Nebraska winner, Drozd is
now eligible for a scholarship of $10,000 in The American Legion Eagle Scout
of the Year competition. This is the second consecutive year Drozd has won
the state competition. |

Post 84 Sons of the American
Legion squadron member Blaine Drozd has been named American Legion
National Baseball Player of the Year 2007 |
|
The
selection is made on the basis of integrity, mental attitude, cooperation,
citizenship, sportsmanship, scholastic aptitude, and general good conduct. After being selected as the 2007
Department of Nebraska Baseball Player of the Year, Blaine was then awarded
the Central Plains Region Player of the Year and will receive a $1000
scholarship. As the George W. Rulon American Legion National
Player of the Year, he receives another $2000 scholarship. Blaine will
also receive an expense paid trip to the 2008 Baseball Hall of Fame
Induction in Cooperstown, New York in June 2008 and an expense paid trip to
the 2008 American Legion National Convention in Phoenix, Arizona in August
2008 to receive his award. Blaine is only the 2nd player from
Nebraska to receive this award since 1949 and the first since Kenneth J.
Fila of Omaha was selected in 1965.
